A building permit is required for an owner or contractor to make structural modifications or alterations that result in an increase in the habitable floor area of the building.

New Building

A Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the construction of a new single family, multi family or non-residential building.

Interior Alteration/Remodel 

Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the interior remodel or alteration of an existing single-family home, townhouse, condominium, multi-family dwelling unit, or non-residential building.

Demolition

Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the demolition of a building, structure, or interior demolition.

Swimming Pool

A permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the construction of the installation of a swimming pool or hot tub.

Fence

A Building Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property to build or replace a Fence.

Deck

A Building Permit is required for an owner or contractor to construct a new deck or modify and existing deck.

Shed

A building permit is required for an owner or contractor to construct a shed.

Detached Garage

A Building Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property to construct any new detached garage or garage addition.

Electrical

A Building Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the installation of electrical only work such as but not limited to the following:
    • New Outlets or Lights (Interior or Exterior)
    • Electrical Panel upgrades
    • Rewiring
    • New, Temporary or Upgrades to Electrical Service
    • Generators
    • Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

HVAC

A building permit is required for an owner or contractor to construct or install Mechanical equipment required for:
Air Conditioning
Heating
Storage Tanks (underground or above ground)
Boiler Work
RTUs

Plumbing

A Building Permit is required for an owner or contractor to modify or replace existing plumbing fixtures. If plumbing work is being performed in conjunction with other building or renovation work, plumbing details, plans, and contractor information should be submitted as part of the building permit application.
Plumbing work to be included in this section as follows: Water Heater, drain tile, water service and meter upgrade, sump pump discharge, installation of chemical dispensers, interior piping changes, relocating fixtures, and installation of new or relocated RPZ.

Roof

A Permit is is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the installation of a new roof over an existing roof structure, or repairs to an existing roof.

Sign

A sign permit is required for the owner or contractor to construct any permanent sign or temporary sign. “Feather” type signs are not permitted.

New Business/Zoning

Any new business, business expansion, or existing Willowbrook business that is relocating in Willowbrook is required to obtain a new certificate of occupancy and business license.

Pavement

A permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for constructing, replacing, expanding, or installing driveways and/or aprons, public walks, curb and gutter, patios, landings, walkways, steps, stairs, pads, and for the replacement, resurfacing, or restriping of existing or new parking lots.

Solar Energy System

A building permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the installation of Solar Energy Systems.

Special Event

A special event permit is required for the owner or contractor to host a special event.

Annexation

An application to Annex property into the Village.

Comprehensive Sign Plan

An application for a Comprehensive Sign Plan.

Variation

An application for a Variation.

Major Subdivision Preliminary

An application for a Preliminary Major Subdivision.

Minor Subdivision

An application for a Minor Subdivision.

A permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property to install a lawn irrigation sprinkler system. All systems must be installed in compliance with the Village municipal code and State of Illinois regulations.

Security Systems/CCTV/Data Cable

A Permit is required for the owner or contractor of a property for the installation of low voltage wiring systems.

Elevator

Permit for the installation or repair or modification of an elevator, lift, moving walk, escalator, chairlift or any other mechanical conveyance system.

Utility Provider Work

A Permit for the installation or maintenance of utilities on private or public property
